Storage that frames beloved items, the Trace cabinet combines luxurious details with a sleek silhouette.

Trace, a display cabinet made from an oak frame and glass paneled doors, is the latest collaboration between &Tradition and Copenhagen-based architecture and design studio, Space Copenhagen. Its classic silhouette with contemporary expression provides storage and an elegant frame to display cherished items. The name ‘Trace’ was chosen to reflect the concept of collecting and the pieces of our lives these items represent. The cabinet, then, works as an extension of these traces, allowing us to showcase our most treasured items in a frame that blends seamlessly into any room.

“Trace is about creating a piece that is both elegant and understated,” explain Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou, founders of Space Copenhagen. “We wanted to design a cabinet that acted as a frame for the items placed within it, rather than drawing attention to itself. The result is a timeless storage cabinet that fits effortlessly into any space.”

It is the understated details that give Trace visual interest. Available in two finishes, oak with brass details, and dark stained oak with bronzed brass details, the subtle addition of brass works to complement the refined craftsmanship and elegance of the cabinet. Trace is available in both single and double door options, making it versatile enough to use on its own or in multiples to create a wall for storage and display. Crafted in Portugal using traditional woodworking practices, Trace is made of materials sourced from well-managed, FSC®-certified forests and other controlled sources. The simplicity and versatility make it the perfect canvas to display a curated collection of books, glassware or objects in any residential, commercial, or hospitality space.

“As an architect working with furniture and space, you have to understand how to utilise furniture and how it affects the environment it’s in. The ambience of a cabinet is not finalised before someone uses it in their space with their own pieces, so you have to design with that in mind,” note Bindslev Henriksen and Bundgaard Rützou. Their wealth of experience designing for hospitality spaces means that they are experts in combining understated luxury with clear functionality. Trace brings these threads together into a piece that allows the user to highlight their personal style while maintaining a sleek aesthetic.
